I share my studio 4 with Lee Page Hanson ...ceramic artist, our shop is easy to find (right opposite the cafe on the ground floor) use the map below, email me or phone me on 0161 839 6000 for directions, we're 5 minutes walk from Piccadilly Gardens and 10 minutes walk from Victoria and Piccadilly train stations.

Directions

By Bus

TFGM has an extensive bus network, and any routes that terminate at Manchester Piccadilly Gardens or Shudehill mean that you only need walk 5 minutes to reach us (see “On Foot” below for full directions). If you find that your bus drops you elsewhere in the city, you might like to catch a free Metro service bus. These are small shuttle buses that operate on a number of circuits around the centre. Click here for information on these, and look out for shuttle bus numbers 1,2 and 3.

By Train

The nearest train station to MCDC is Victoria Station, but Manchester Piccadilly is also close by. See our ‘On Foot’ section to navigate your way from there. A Metrolink tram service also operates from both stations if you prefer not to walk (alight at Piccadilly Gardens or Shudehill).

By Car

MCDC is located very close to the north-eastern part of Manchester’s inner ring road (A665, Great Ancoats Street). The A57(M) and the A6042 both join this road from the south and east. For direct access to our building turn left down Tib St (if travelling anti clockwise from the south). Turn right onto Thomas Street and right again (look for the pink building) onto Oak Street. We are at the end of Oak Street. If travelling clockwise round the ring road take a right onto the A644 after the huge, glass Cooperative building, continue down Shudehill and turn left onto Thomas Street. Turn left at Bluu Bar along the cobbled street and then take the second right down Copperas Street. We are at the end of the street where Copperas Street meets Oak Street.

Parking

There is on-street parking in the Northern Quarter, with prices around £2.50 for an hour. If you wish to spend a little more time in the City Centre we recommend the Tib St NCP or one of the many private car parks on Great Ancoats Street (a 2 minute walk to MCDC and a further 5 minutes to Manchester’s main shopping streets).

By Metrolink

The Metrolink is the name given to Manchester’s ever-expanding tram network. Trams currently reach as far as Ashton-Under-Lyne in the east, Bury in the north and Altrincham and Chorlton in the south and Media City UK in the west. Our closest Metrolink stop is Shudehill, although Piccadilly Gardens is also very nearby.

On Foot

Our on-foot directions may not be the quickest, but definitely the simplest route for anyone not familiar with the Northern Quarter!

From Shudehill Bus/Metrolink Station (3 mins):

With Shudehill bus station behind you cross over the main road. There is a red Tattooists shop on the corner; walk down this street (Thomas Street). Turn left at Bluu Bar on the corner, along the cobbled street and then take the second right down Copperas Street. We are at the end of the street where Copperas Street meets Oak Street.

From Victoria Train/Metrolink Station on foot (5 mins): Turn left out of the station. You will see a glass building (The National Football Museum) in front of you / on the right. Walk alongside the museum, cross over so that Next is on your right and the Printworks is on your left. Walk up the hill (this road is Withy Grove). At the top of the hill, Shudehill bus station is on your left. Take a right before the Tattooists down Thomas Street. Turn left at Bluu Bar along the cobbled street and then take the second right down Copperas Street. We are at the end of the street where Copperas Street meets Oak Street.

From Manchester Piccadilly Train/Metrolink Station (10 mins):

Exit out of the main doors at platform level (next to WH Smith). Follow the general flow of pedestrian traffic towards the City Centre; after around 500 yards you will reach Piccadilly Gardens. Keep walking straight, passing the shops and banks on your right and the gardens on the left. You will reach a street on the left, with Starbucks and a Debenhams on the corner (this is Tib St). Turn down Tib St, cross over at the Church St junction and again as it crosses Thomas St. Stay on Tib St until you reach the ‘Tib St Tavern’ bar on the right. Opposite ‘Tib St Tavern’ is a little courtyard with a cut through which will bring you out at our front door!

From Piccadilly Gardens (5 mins):

Piccadilly Gardens is located between Piccadilly Station and Market Street, Manchester’s main shopping strip. Orientate yourself so that you can see the large Primark store ahead of you; the bus terminus is on your left and the gardens/fountains on your right. Also to the right, beyond the tram tracks, are a Halifax, Boots and Cooperative. Head in this direction; as you approach you will now see Tib Street with a Starbucks and a Debenhams on the corner.
