HOME° ABOUT° CONTACT°

The design for the Passage Light box originates from a series of pieces she was commissioned to make for Bristol Royal Hospital for Children in 2001.

For this project she created a number of miniature theatre-type sets based on typical fairytale settings, such as 'the tower', 'the dark forest' and 'the labyrinth'. One particular design - 'the passage' - was refined further and adapted to create the Passage Light Box.

Each light box is individually handmade by Liz out of a high firing creamy white clay with a stoney finish. The measurements are approximately 20cm high x 13cm wide 17cm deep.

A small 10 watt halogen bulb hidden out of sight within the box, this brings the interior architectural space to life. The bulb has an extremely long life but can be changed by lifting the lid off the box (see the diagram below). Replacement bulbs can be bought from places like B+Q, Maplins & Ikea. A 3m long electrical cable comes out of the back of the box and ends in a three-pin plug with built in transformer. A sheet of care instructions is also included with your delivery
